NewWind Energy - can stick with National Grid and they'll add a per *KWh charge of 1.3 cents (60% New Wind/40% Small Hydro) to 2.5 cents (100% New Wind) to your bill - approximately $7-15 extra per month.
Sterling Green - choose a "sign-up level" (at specific KWh usage ranges) that signifies your commitment to providing credits for renewable energy. The higher your commitment, the greater will be your monthly fee. However, the fee is set so that it is predictable, per month, as long as you stay in that
KWh range.
Renewable Choice Energy - can purchase from 3 different rate plans that will help offset emissions through the purchase of Renewable Energy Credits for wind farms only. Depending on your usage, a differing fee will be charged on your bill. Fees are: $5 for 200 KWh, $10 for 400 KWh, and $15 for 600KWh, per month. 100 KWh blocks can also be purchased for $2.50.
National Grid - National Grid's own web resource for choosing a provider through comparisons of their energy product mix.
Energy Cooperative of New York - this local energy co-op does what all co-ops do - it buys something in bulk at a price savings and passes that savings on to the average consumer. Here, the commodity is electricity - but not just any electricity. This is renewable, "green" electricity! Unfortunately, there is no indication of the exact formula or product mix or price for the electricity per KWh. You have to call or email at: (716) 842-1697, info@ecny.org.
NYSEG - for NYSEG customers, you can purchase green energy at the following price (in addition to your regular bill): multiply the number of KWh x .025 = the $ price extra per month. The mix is 100% New Wind Energy.
