Thruway Tolls in Western New York

The Western New York Coalition for Progress is in favor of the removal of Thruway toll barriers on Grand Island, and at Black Rock and South Ogden Street in the City of Buffalo. Additionally we call for the Lackawanna and Williamsville toll barriers to be moved to the west side of Exits 57 (Camp Road - Hamburg) and the east side of Exit 49 (Transit Road- Williamsville), respectively.

Buffalo and Erie County's commuters are the only ones in the State who are forced to pay tolls such as these to reach downtown. If motorists on the Thruway-maintained Interstate 287, which cuts through Westchester County - the wealthiest county in the country, can do so toll-free, it is only fair that Buffalonians enjoy that same privilege.
