Mike Szukala is the President of the WNY Democrats for Progress. Mike comes back to the presidency after a prior 2 terms from 2012 to 2019. In 2019, Mike was elected to the Amherst Town Board, and was reelected in 2023. Mike has served with distinction, bringing his internal auditor background to the town board. For nearly three decades, Mike has served as a Democratic Committeeman, zone chair and local leader.

Natalie Nitsche serves in volunteer capacities as both a vice president of the WNY Democrats for Progress and on the Hamburg Democratic Committee. She lives in the Town of Hamburg with her husband, David, their children, and two very busy Australian Shepherds. Natalie has been passionate about politics since childhood and believes that effective, ethical, and responsible government begins with local elections. She is known in her community for her dedication to helping outstanding candidates get elected through grassroots campaigning.

Tiffany Lewis is a Vice President of the WNY Democrats for Progress. Tiffany is a dynamic movement-builder and seasoned advocate whose strategic brilliance and heart-centered leadership have transformed communities locally and globally. With more than two decades of impact, she has served as Chief of Staff for the Buffalo Common Council (Masten District) and as Founder and Executive Director of the Confident Girl Mentoring Program, leading multimillion-dollar initiatives in mentorship, gun violence prevention and mental health outreach. A trusted cabinet member and liaison to elected officials, she provides visionary guidance to shape positive community outcomes. Her thoughtful approach to advocacy and stewardship has earned her high honors from the NAACP and other esteemed organizations, affirming her as a powerful force for progress in the Buffalo-Niagara Region.

Zaque Evans is a Vice President of the WNY Democrats for Progress. Zaque serves as the chief economic, community, and workforce development officer for the Erie County Executive. Additionally, he is finishing his PhD in urban sociology and political economy at the University at Buffalo, where he has been a multi-award winning instructor in the social sciences. Additionally, Zaque has 15+ years experience in media as a radio talent and multimedia producer, and promotions/events/social media manager.

Gary Gorski is the Treasurer of the Western New York Democrats for Progress. Gary is a veteran of many races, including having run for councilmember in the town of Marilla. Many campaigns have relied on the computer programming skills of Gary Gorski to lead them to victory. In addition to his political work, Gary also happens to be a member of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame as a member of Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields.

Jonathan Freirich is a Rabbi, professional, learner, listener, leader, teacher - with experience in community organizing for racial justice and equity, leadership in faith communities and on university campuses. Accomplished at community-building across many settings. Devoted to collaborating in healthy and difference-making organizations. With over 20 years of experience as community leader and servant, an organizer for social justice and equity with VOICE Buffalo, a grassroots coalition of faith-based and community organizations, working on issues such as ending mass incarceration, improving public safety, and advancing housing equity. Founder of Open Door Judaism, helping people connect, create and explore social justice and Judaism wherever they are, and a certified dialogue facilitator with Soliya, an international nonprofit that fosters cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.

Jason Hurley is the Sergeant-At-Arms of the WNY Democrats for Progress after serving a term as president. Jason came to the presidency after serving 8 years as a Zone Chair for Democratic Committeepersons in the Delaware District of Buffalo, one of the most active political districts in WNY. Jason has worked on many campaigns as varied as school board to the presdiency and everything in-between. An expert on get out the vote techniques, Hurley is known for employing modern skills with the old shoe-leather tried and true methods of the past to achieve success for the camapigns he runs.
